Note: I use God as how it may apply to the reader, even as perhaps to their own higher power.
Sometimes, I swear to every God that exists that the universe hates me from the tiniest particle that makes up my physical body to my conscious self. Everyday it’s something new. A new arthritic pain. The woman down the street doesn’t have arthritis. Anger that wells up from who knows where only to screw up my, and others around me, day. So and so can handle their psychological lives without counseling OR antidepressants! My pants are too big. My pants are too small. The universe is giving me TOO much muck! Why does it hate ME?
Of course, none of it actually has anything to do with me. I sometimes forget to look around me. Sometimes I look too much and become angry with myself because I compare myself to other people. I am my own worst enemy.
Isn’t that the way it is? What if the best way is to look around outside ourselves to anyone else. We need to see what is happening everywhere. And just because we think we know what’s happening, the reality is that we need to dig deeper.
Digging. Humans. Humanity. We are complex. When we jump to conclusions, we can inflict pain on others as well as ourselves. Dig deeper. When we’re at our worst, we don’t care that we are that way. We destroy life, all life. We are destroying our planet. Climate change and war. The list can go on and on.
So, what do we do? What if instead of blaming the universe, or whoever you want to blame, we find a way to help it out. Okay…. Sooooooo, just HOW is that supposed to happen? I’m small, you’re small, we’re all so tiny in the scope of things. How can the universe put all this STUFF in my head? Just kidding.
Breathe and dig some more. Go to the heart and to the soul; not of the matter at hand, but the heart and soul of the human. The rest doesn’t matter. If we get down to the heart and soul anything can be healed.
Dig just a little bit more. Going to the heart and soul. Not each other’s, but our own. If I, you, all of us, work on ourselves we can find out what really makes us tick. What happens in my own heart that makes me happy? Expand on that. Take that, and share it with someone else.
I’m sure everyone’s heard of pay it forward just like we know the golden rule. But what if we treated it as a universal truth. Not some cliche’, but an absolute.
Loving the spirit of ourselves and each other; loving that spark of life and sharing it can bring out the humanity in all of us.
