Time To Grow

Once upon a time there was a small infant girl born into an average family in a small town. She was beautiful and well loved.

Her parents were so happy. They loved their life. As their daughter grew, they took such joy in watching her learn to walk, potty train, eat ‘big girl’ foods.

The first day of kindergarten was scary for all of them, but of course everyone survived! The girl grew some more and moved on to the first grade! Half way through that year, their world forever changed.

I’ll come right out and say it. Today has been hard. It’s almost 4:30 in the afternoon and I’m just now starting to write. The unprovoked war that is going on is breaking my heart.

On the news this morning was a doctor giving CPR to a 6 y/o child that that been caught in the onslaught of an arial bomb. She didn’t make it and they closed her eyes.

I really don’t understand. There are people who will say not to watch the news. The news is biased, will say the same thing over and over if there is nothing new to say. It will just continue to be depressing and will delete your spirit.

And they would be right. I tend to be empathic. If I’m not careful, I absorb the energy around me. If you don’t believe in such things, then we can say with complete truth that I respond emotionally to most things around me. Either way, I need to use barriers.

A lot of people are the same way. So, what is the answer? My way of thinking is that we need to be aware of what is happening around us. To know what is going on is to know when or if we can help someone. (Not only in war times.) To be aware of what is happening to our fellow humans and how it affects each of us. Perhaps to balance where we get our news, not just from one news source. Definitely not watching blow-by-blow replays and new events every hour of the day. That will drain anyone’s spirit.

So, some will say pray. We can do that. We can send good and loving energy. Some say that will help while others say it’s useless. I say it can help with the flow of good to help send good thinking to those that have the actual power to do something physical. Some people raise funds. Others may travel to help with medical needs. The point is, there is something, there has to be something that we can do.

We need to grow. We need to learn to work with our spirit, heart, and mind; not our caveman brain. That brain reacts immediately to what it perceives as threats. It’s non-thinking and there is no empathy. Just reaction.

It’s time for us to advance to the next grade level.
