Short Today!

It is a time in this world that we are trying to know who we are and how we fit into the scheme of things. There is so much going on globally. War, anger, threats of even world war 3. So how do we deal with all of this?

I’ll tell you. I haven’t a clue. Well, I have a little clue. It was actually given to me by my mother. She’s in her 80’s and has dementia. Sometimes she can make me crazy. But we had an excellent conversation today. She laughed instead of cried, which is the norm. She was confused but happy. My father was fixing her breakfast and she always likes that!

It’s the small things. The recognition of what we have. Realizing that those of us that can’t make much of a difference overseas, we can still support the ones we hold close that don’t have the same ability to protect themselves (emotionally) as they used to. It’s keeping our spirit strong and our stubborn streak alive and well! We sing and we dance in whatever way makes us happy. These things help us hold a calm center.

But there are going to be plenty of times that we are angry and can’t find our center. We can sometimes try to meditate and ground ourselves. We can talk to someone who we know can make us smile. We can listen to music. We can call mom and remember the small things.

Then again, sometimes we just have to ride the wave and realize that we are human and we have every right to feel the anger, as long as we don’t act on it and cause more harm and feed into that anger.
